“I want to become an architect because I want to create living spaces for people. Spaces that are not only surrounded by walls but become a healthy environment for them,” says Priyanka Ahuja, a third year B.Arch. student of Bhagwan Mahaveer School of Architecture, Sonepat. The passionate student is already doing her best to fulfill the balance between human and nature friendly structures. Her research on ‘Paradox to Paradigm’ looks at architecture that leads to paradox. But there is no paradox in her mind about achieving her goals to improve living standards of others.
The Drive To Build
From the metro on her way to college, Priyanka observes people trying to look after their basic needs. As she gets to her classroom, she turns that experience into inspiration. “An architect’s main role is to create sustainable structures in innovative ways. You have to connect to social environment with an eye on the surroundings. It motivates me to learn more to create something worth remembering,” she says confidently.
Focus On Research
Priyanka realizes the importance of research to learn from the past and create a better tomorrow. She talks about the glorious city of Lucknow with its stunning architecture, gardens and how it inspired her paper ‘Paradox to Paradigm’. “Sometimes while building infrastructure it contradicts Nature; you can’t always have human friendly structures. The paper focuses on architecture that leads towards this paradox,” she explains.
BMSA Support For Her Research
While Priyanka is thrilled that her paper has been chosen for the conference at Shri Mata Vaishnodevi College, Jammu, she admits that research is hard work. It takes a lot of time, effort, and of course support of faculty members, which she is grateful for. “BMSA is not just a college for me; it’s a way to my dreams. Besides providing me quality education, it offers me avenues like seminars to explore my interests to the fullest,” she says with gratitude.
Designs For A Better Tomorrow
Encouraged by her first stint with research, Priyanka wants to work on her next article on a famous architect in India. Of course, showing signs of a true professional, she won’t reveal the name. But she lets us in on her dreams for the future. “I love research because it helps me getting information, which can be used with my skills set to others’ advantage. I want to reach the stage where I can help people achieving good living standards and quality education,” she says.
